Frequently asked questions
Getting groceries is easy! You'll find a mini-grocery just a 3-minute walk away, and don't miss the weekly mobile market truck that visits every Wednesday—a 30-year-old village tradition. For larger shops, we organize community trips at least twice a week to supermarkets, pharmacies, and ATMs (just a 10-minute drive away). The main town of Spoleto with large retailers is also easily reachable in 20 minutes by bus or car.
Our goal is to create a relaxing atmosphere where you can truly unwind into the rhythm of village life. We have an onsite coliving manager and a community facilitator dedicated to helping you connect—both with fellow colivers and with the local community. Each week, we decide on activities together, which often lead to wonderful friendships. It's quite common to see our colivers going on hikes, mushroom and truffle hunts, or simply enjoying free time with their new local friends!
Vallo di Nera enjoys a balanced climate shaped by its hilltop location in the green heart of Umbria. You can expect four distinct but mild seasons:
Spring/Autumn: Pleasant and ideal for outdoors, with warm days and cool evenings.
Summer: Warm and dry, perfect for sun-drenched landscapes (average high: 29°C / 84.2°F).
Winter: Crisp and quiet, ideal for focused work (average low: 1°C / 33.8°F).
Rainfall is well-distributed, with the driest month being July and the wettest being November. It's a natural rhythm that supports both focus and relaxation year-round.
Unlike a single building, our coliving space is thoughtfully integrated into the fabric of a historic village. Your private bedroom, modern coworking spaces, and social areas are spread across beautifully restored medieval homes. This unique model means you become part of a vibrant, authentic Italian community—with a cafe, grocery store, and family-run restaurants just steps from your door. It’s the perfect blend of private living and communal connection.
Easily! The E401 bus line provides direct access to Spoleto's majestic historic center (20 mins) and the renowned town of Norcia (40 mins). For further exploration, the Spoleto train station connects you to Foligno, Assisi, and Perugia in under an hour. You can even do spectacular day trips to Rome (1.5h by train), to the Marmore Waterfalls (~1h 20m by bus) or to Florence (~3h by car or bus). We are happy to drive you to the bus stop, just a 3-minute ride away.
Not only are pets warmly welcomed, but they are celebrated here! We go beyond just acceptance by organizing group dog activities led by certified trainers. Enjoy everything from social walks through historical towns to daily hikes and multi-day dog trekking excursions, all designed to create memorable experiences for both you and your furry friend.
Absolutely! Our village is an excellent place to stay without a car. The essentials—hikes, a mini-grocery, and cafes—are all within walking distance. For more options, pharmacies, ATMs, and supermarkets are a quick 5-15 minute bus ride away, and the historic town of Spoleto is only 20 minutes by bus. Best of all, we organize weekly community car trips for errands and adventures, ensuring you're never isolated.
